Good article – I take heed from info like this. We have both static-grounding straps and chains to ground on both our vehicles- just in case (even though some say we don’t have to worry about our vehicles and an EMP) plus I’ve worked in areas where required). We also keep copies of back-up disks and other digital media, credit/debit cards, a AM/FM/SW/WX/AIR radio, an dual band (2M/70CM) handi-talkie (not one of the Chinese knock-offs), a box of ammo and handgun in an old large padlocked microwave oven in our storm shelter, again just in Case.

Besides individual preparedness an important step would be for US to be ready to punish the offender and their allies. US would need underground submarines loaded with EMP weapons but protected from EMP attack by the enemy by being under the sea but ready to attack them. They should know that US is ready to take an action if they ever dreamed of attacking USA.

You can build your own Faraday cage using a metal trash can.
Line the inside with any non electrical material such as old inner tubes, plastic, ect..
Wrap whatever you put in with plastic also
Make sure the lid fits on tight
Some folks say to also attach a ground wire from the can to a grounding rod

In reply to Oslo Wilhunky. Oslo....Buy a car that doesn't have a computer board in it. I believe anything 1980 and older should be fine. No need to get fancy with it. Just something that will run and most of the older cars/trucks are easy to work on, even for those with minimal mechanical knowledge like myself.

Buying solar panels or generators is a great idea, but how can you keep them and an automobile protected from an EMP, short of turning your garage into a Faraday cage?

There is some interesting material on how electro magnetic pulse changes the brain. One research study found changes in receptiveness in subjects depending on which side of the brain was stimulated. Thou shalt not lie depends on which side is effected.
Seizures and epilepic response to EMP. Something to consider. Fits and odd behavior related to EMP.
This aspect is rarely discussed. Maybe it’s time.
