First I want to thank you for your service! Veterans do not get the thanks they deserve. Next I want to apologize for what’s next. As an historian I feel the need to point out that on the day of the stock market crash in’29 there were no reported suicides directly related to it. Max, people like you are the ones that are irritating. Constantly painting the worst picture possible is actually inviting that to happen. And you obviously don’t know a thing about having a positive mental outlook. Throughout my life I have done my best to avoid negative people like you… you are a drag.

While I understand where the article is going, and I agree with the thrust of it, I prefer a gritty realism. The old ‘plan for the worst, hope for the best” saying is a good one. IMO you need to strength of will to endure and never give up, but you will be better served by a pragmatism and some black humor. Pointless positive mental attitude ‘happy clappy’ is just irritating.

That’s the way I was trained in the Army regarding planning. If you’ve planned for the worst, everything else is better. Also, remember what happened in 1929 when the Stock Market crashed. The number of suicides was alot, and this was people who reacted before even trying to cope with the problem.
