Sounds to me like you base that statement purely on the fact that you can’t stand Kevin Costner. Kind of a chickenshit reason to be slamming movies.

I second the recommendation for this family film.

The Earthling(1980) hasn’t been mentioned yet. It’s a Hollywood movie with a real leading actor so not sure how it was missed by the armchair survivalists crowd(shame on you…). Top notch don’t miss this one.

Cousin Jules (1972) is a documentary of a working farm that was established pre-electricity. You’ll notice blacksmithing, animal husbandry, and the long day passing on the the farm.

Thinking back on on the PAW movies out there, whether its a young Don Johnson or Harry Belafonte acting in them none really capture the essence of the situation in my mind. Read the first PAW story written instead, Starman’s Son by Andre Norton.
