Cities in Colorado have a monopoly on services.
Water, electric, garbage, sewer.
All lumped into one bill, so they can ‘ stick it’ to the residents or visitors!
I mentioned I had a little solar, and I meant just enough for phones and laptops, but I was short on the utilities bill and the city didn’t want to wait a few days for my disability check to hit my bank account, so they shut off my utilities.
My friend is a southern prepper, we have lots of stored bottles of tap water in the basement. Canned food for 8 months.
Collect some rain water, for agriculture.
But some s.o.b. telling me I am squatting, because I can’t the utilities because I rather pay my mortgage instead?
Eventually, I will pay the bill, but not before the mortgage.
Yes, I hate Colorado, but I am stuck here awhile.

We are printing money like crazy right now trillions giving it to people who didn’t earn it . We have always been a socialist country . when it comes to the richest people in the world but when it comes to poor people authoritarian rule will do just fine . It’s all about people who have the money that’s who the government is there for the rest of us are expendable.left right doesn’t matter all that matters is who has the money. If we become self sufficient who’s going to pay all the taxes that keep the rich safe from us.poor people pay the taxes for the rich this shut down proves that.my point is the tyrarrny has all ways been here no one is free unless you are rich then you can just buy the water and make everyone else pay for it

In some communities, you have “city water” and sewer, and you pay for the water used, and for the sewer you are charged a base fee plus a per gallon fee. However, you may have a perfectly working water well on your property, providing excellent quality H20. If you don’t need the “city water” and may even have an on-site septic system, should you still be charged for the “City Services” based on a city estimate?

Nothing better than soft rain water to help run the Maine farm!

I think the fact that collecting rainwater is illegal in some states is a crime in itself! There are some really crazy laws on the books but Colorado has the right idea in a lot of situations. Hopefully the rest of the country follows suit – there’s NO reason for it to be illegal. Rainwater is a natural human right. Collecting it should be too.

The law needs to find a fair balance for both sides, and sometimes it’s not easy.

I wasn’t defending anything, but simply pointing out the facts. Not even sure where the Bernie Sanders slam comes from, you have no idea who I’m voting for.

Here’s an interesting topic that should be addressed by all people who believe a man is king in his own property, as I BELIEVE. The question is how far does it go? Suppose a creek runs through a man’s property and downstream 30 people are dependent on that creek. Does he have the right to dam it up because he’s upstream? And they are just SOL? That’d be an interesting debate here. The man was changing the surrounding ecological system by altering his own yard. How far does that go? I’m not advocating any side, just posing the question.

Who were so evil that they actually forbid the people from collecting rainwater.
