Wouldn\u2019t it be smarter to take the Gray\nMan approach and carry something that doesn\u2019t scream \u201ccome rob me and take my gear\u201d?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019m just like the next guy, I love my gear, and I will admit to having some really cool tactical bags. But when the Shit Hits\nthe Fan, they are probably the last thing\nI will be reaching for during an evacuation situation, especially in a big city\nwhere people are going to be desperately looking for supplies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Gray Man Approach: Discreet Urban Carry Backpacks for Bug Out Disasters<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>I own military rucks, tactical bags, and a variety of hiking backpacks, but it&#8217;s my little non-descript bags that I trust for my vehicle Get-Home\/Bugout Bags. Tactical stuff is great for the gun range, if you are in the middle of nowhere, or in an area where you know the threat level is low, but during an actual crisis where people are desperate, the last thing you want to do is look tactical!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Some things to keep in mind when choosing a Discreet Survival Pack<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Make sure your bag fits the areas you plan on being in. Take a sports bag into a business area of the city, and you&#8217;ll stand out, where a more professional bag will blend into the environment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Don\u2019t worry about things like MOLLE or tactical attachments; if those things are important to you can buy internal cases and attachments, and then customize the inside of your bag so that it will not attract unwanted attention.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Remove Brand Tags: If you do buy a name brand pack, take a few minutes and remove any tags that might indicate what\u2019s inside.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>While you might be tempted to buy a cheap Walmart school pack, don\u2019t! These bags suck and aren\u2019t built for survival. They might look right, but you want to spend the extra couple bucks to make sure the bag is made from heavy-duty, quality materials. First, Jansport is generally known as a student backpack, making it an inconspicuous pack to carry in most settings. This is one time where I would ignore what I said about removing the tag; in this case, the brand name will probably actually help you blend in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Second, these bags are rock solid and tough as hell. These\nbags are made for carrying heavier\nlaptops and textbooks, so they are designed to support a significant amount of\nweight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Key Features we like\nand some things to keep in mind:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Nobody is going to give this pack a second look;\nthat being said, they come in a variety\nof colors and patterns.
