It&#8217;s also something that you need to start working on now, before the SHTF.<\/p>\n<p>Making it through a survival scenario often comes down to how well you can control your emotions. Keeping a positive frame of mind, even in the face of an unthinkable threat, will help you process what&#8217;s happening and will help you respond without giving into fear.<\/p>\n<p>Now I&#8217;m not suggesting that you ignore the dangers or take on some delusional view of what&#8217;s going on. But I am suggesting that you need to keep a level head, regardless of your circumstances. In a survival situation griping about your circumstances or wallowing on your problems will do one thing, <strong>IT WILL GET YOU KILLED!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In a Survival Situation, you need to be able to work on solutions, not wallow in self-pity. Every obstacle that you face will likely present a solution &#8211; if you have a level head and can look for it. If you spend all your time crying about the problem, the opportunity to survive will pass you by.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Work Starts Now<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The most important thing to remember about mastering your emotions is that it takes time. While it only takes a second for fear and anger to invade your mind, it can take years to really master the ability to tune these emotions out during a stressful situation.<\/p>\n<p>Being able to maintain a positive attitude in a stressful situation takes practice. It&#8217;s not an easy thing to master, but once you do it will be well worth the effort.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How to prepare your mind for survival:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Prepare yourself for Battle<\/strong>\u2013 People who are prepared and know <a href=\"..\/emergency-situation\/\">what to expect during an emergency situation<\/a> are far less likely to fall into the grips of depression and fear. The more you train, the better you will be able to respond both physically and mentally to a stressful SHTF situation.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Practice Relaxation Techniques<\/strong> \u2013 Learning how to relax in a stressful situation is crucial to your survival. Deep breathing techniques, stretching, studying positive attitude, and other relaxation techniques are valuable skills that you should learn.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"..\/fears\/\">Manage your Fears<\/a><\/strong> &#8211; Fear is a natural part of life and something that has been hard-wired into our DNA to help us survive.
